Corpus Christi: A New Creation
When God speaks, reality happens.
When God speaks, something beautiful happens.
He spoke existence into nothingness,
breathed light into the darkness.
Sang creation over the waters.
At his voice the withered hand was stretched forth,
and at His beckoning, the dead man walked
from his tomb.
He turned water into wine,
and wine into blood.
I wonder what He could do with blood.
He is reconciling the world to Himself,
making all things new.
A new heaven and a new earth.
He will recreate.
Just as He did in the beginning.
He will speak.
The Creator,
the Star-breather,
the Singer,
the cosmos stretched forth before Him,
He beckons to it,
He holds all creation in His hands,
and the world slips back and forth
between His fingers,
but we will not Fall.
He holds us up
and whispers those words
from that most sacred night,
this is my body.
And all is made anew.
